Apple Strudel

Apple Strudel

Serves 5, preparation time 60 minutes

Ingredients

4-5 golden delicious apples
1 cup raisins
½ cup sugar
½ cup Rum
½ tsp cinnamon
2 tbs butter
½ cup ground hazelnuts
2 cups bread crumbs
One sheet puff pastry
Heavy cream

 

Method

-Peel the apples and thinly slice or grate them and place in a large mixing bowl

-Macerate the raisins in the sugar, rum and cinnamon

- Melt the butter in a frying pan, and toast the ground hazelnuts and bread crumbs

-Add the raisins and macerating liquid to the toasted hazelnut-bread crumb mixture

-Combine the apples and raisin bread crumb mixture

-Rolled out the puff pastry until it is very thin and carefully place it on floured kitchen towel

-Spread the apple mixture on the puff pastry and roll Strudel with the help of the towel

-Bake at 370°F for about 20 minutes

-Brush with the heavy cream while baking

Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
